Bishop’s Letter

Hrudaya palliative care services are dedicated to delivering tender care and solace to bedridden patients, individuals burdened by chronic illnesses, and those navigating intricate health challenges that hinder complete restoration.

“On September 10, 2016, Hrudaya Palliative Care & Hospice was launched as a palliative care program, marking the Ruby Jubilee of the Irinjalakuda Diocese. In loving memory of our first bishop, Mar James Pazhayattil, this initiative was formalized as a Public Charitable Trust in 2017 (Reg. No.: 85/1V/17), embodying our commitment to delivering tender care and solace to those facing life-limiting illnesses.

Hrudaya Palliative Care is committed to offering free, comprehensive care to bedridden individuals affected by debilitating conditions such as cancer, stroke, spinal cord injuries, geriatric diseases, kidney diseases, and other complex illnesses that are difficult to fully recover from. Our goal is to provide tender care, emotional support, and comfort, improving the lives of those we serve.

A dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and volunteers has been providing palliative care services across various regions of the Irinjalakuda Diocese, including Irinjalakuda North, Irinjalakuda South, Mala, Chalakudy, Kodakara, and Vellikulangara. Through home visits, our team delivers compassionate patient care, transcending caste and religious boundaries, to bring comfort and support to those in need.

Commemorating six years of selfless service, Hrudaya Palliative Care proudly announces the inauguration of Hrudaya Medicals on March 19, 2022, within the Ruby Jubilee Complex, Irinjalakuda Cathedral Parish. This expansion enables us to further our mission by providing complimentary critical medications to those in greatest need under our palliative care program, while also making essential medicines accessible to the broader community at controlled prices.

On World Palliative Care Day, October 14, 2023, Hrudaya inaugurated the ‘Hrudaya Hospice Centre’, a testament to its unwavering dedication to compassionate care. Situated on a freehold plot in Perampra, this centre provides a haven for the most vulnerable, offering round-the-clock physician-led nursing care and inpatient treatment. The Hrudaya Hospice Centre represents a beacon of hope, delivering holistic support and intensive care to those in greatest need, and further solidifying Hrudaya’s position as a champion of palliative care.

Hrudaya Palliative Care program is a beacon of hope for those in need, offering comprehensive services completely free of charge. With a monthly expenditure of over ₹6 lakhs on patient care, hospice services, and essential medications, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to continue this vital work. We invite you to be a part of our mission, sharing your blessings and prayers to bring comfort and relief to the helpless and suffering. Your partnership can help us make a tangible difference in the lives of our patients, and we gratefully welcome your support.”
